In the world of medicine, antifungal injections play a crucial role in combating serious systemic fungal infections. Among these, Amphotericin B, Anidulafungin, Caspofungin, Micafungin, and Voriconazole are some of the most commonly used. Amphotericin B is a polyene antifungal medication often used for serious systemic fungal infections. It works by binding to the fungal cell membrane, causing an increase in membrane permeability, which leads to cell death.


Anidulafungin and Caspofungin belong to a class of antifungal drugs known as echinocandins. These drugs inhibit the synthesis of β-glucan, a component of the fungal cell wall. This disruption in the cell wall synthesis leads to the death of the fungal cell.


Micafungin: Another Echinocandin

Micafungin is another echinocandin that works similarly to Anidulafungin and Caspofungin. It is particularly effective against fungal infections caused by Candida species.


Voriconazole: The Triazole Antifungal

Voriconazole is a triazole antifungal medication used to treat serious fungal infections. It works by inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme 14α-demethylase. This inhibition disrupts the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane.
